RomWOD: What is it?

I’m sure most of you have experienced the RomWOD after class, but maybe you have wondered why it’s different than normal stretching, or why it’s beneficial? Rom stands for “Range of Motion,” and is designed to help athletes prepare, recover, and increase their performance. It uses a combination of postures derived from Kung Fu, Taoist Yin, and Yoga while focusing on breathing in order to free up your joints and increase your overall range of motion. Now why is range of motion important? It helps you to get in a better position, whether it’s an overhead squat, pull-up, or kettlebell swing. Being in a better position increases your power and efficiency, as well as decreases your chance of injury. RomWOD helps to increase your ligament and fascia strength, and release hyaluronic acid, which leads to better recovery. The difference between normal stretching and RomWOD is that stretching is done after working out and RomWOD is designed to¬†open up your body so that your muscles and joints fall into proper alignment over time.
