THE VALUE OF DOING SOMETHING
I’m pretty sure there is something that you’ve been thinking about, something you would like to do, something you haven’t started yet. We all have things on our “to-do” list. I don’t mean the “to-do” list of errands and chores you have to do tomorrow. I mean things you need to do to accomplish something big for yourself. There are plenty of reasons readily available, to put off taking action – money, time, responsibilities, fears. But when will it finally be the right time? Will there ever be a perfect time?

In this TED Talk, Ben Saunders asks the question, “Why Bother Leaving the House?” He talks about the difference between thinking and doing, and the value of adversity and challenge when it comes to reward.
Need a plan to get started on the thing you want to do? This great article by Leo Babauta, “The Do Plan, or Why We Know But Don’t Do,” discusses the knowing-doing gap. Sometimes we want to “know” everything before we “do.” Often, we want assurances that we know enough, that we know that we’ll be successful before we start. The tragedy there, is when we never get brave enough to try, because who ever knows for sure that they will be successful.
