Six Ways CrossFit Can Benefit Runners

Are you a runner? Are you a recovering runner? An aspiring runner? Know any runners? Check out Six Ways CrossFit Can Benefit Runners from competitor.com. This article by TJ Murphy follows his own experience from chronically injured runner on the brink of diabetes, to regaining his health and his love of running by incorporating CrossFit. In his experience, and his research, he has found CrossFit programming to be an effective means to decrease running injuries and increase efficiency. He lists six major benefits for runners, that also happen to apply to anyone starting CrossFit:

  1. Learn how to strength train correctly
  2. Dial in your nutrition program
  3. Experiment on yourself
  4. Gain power
  5. Improve your running technique
  6. Be able to run in the first place

In order to get these benefits from CrossFit, the coaches must be experienced and knowledgable. The programming must support the ability to gain power, improve technique, decrease injuries, and increase efficiency. This comes from experience and data – not randomly programmed workouts in the name of “highly-varied.” The conclusions in the article are based on highly skilled coaches at reputable CrossFit facilities with a track record of success.

If you have friends who love running, invite them to find out if CDR programming can make them a better runner, with less injuries and better health. Calvin, Rachel and Jacob are all CrossFit Endurance certified and CDR has had great success coaching running clients.
