The 2014 Open is Near:
Are you in?
Registration for the 2014 Open begins on January 15th, which is next Wednesday. If some of you are new to CrossFit and aren’t really sure what the Open is all about, its the chance for you to compete against other CrossFitters all around the globe! The Open is the first round of qualifiers for the CrossFit Games, where everyone does the exact same workout, and only the top 30 teams and 48 individuals from each region move on to compete at Regionals. More than 138,000 people participated in the 2013 Open, and this year CrossFit is expecting even higher numbers! The Open is about having EVERYONE compete–no matter if they are a former Games athlete or a 65 year-old grandmother. This gives you the opportunity to see how you stack up against others in your same age division, as well as a chance to see if you improved from last year. I know what most of you are thinking: “I’m never going to compete, so why should I even bother?” Good question, and I have an
even better answer: because we are ONE team. CDR Redlands has competed as a team and will continue to compete as a team for the 2014 season. Only the top 6 scores (3 male and 3 female) are chosen for each workout, and who knows, it could be your score that helps us garner a top 30 finish to go to regionals. That was definitely true last year, and as the competition stiffens, we all need to come together as a community to send our team to the Games another time!
