I want to share a story with you about Jeff Evans, an athlete from the South East region who qualified for the 2014 CrossFit Games. As they were calling out the teams to the podium, Jeff was quietly kneeling with tears streaming down his face. He was so overcome with joy, and at that moment he recalled the time when he was 13 and tried to commit suicide. He was so lonely and depressed that all he could think of doing was to end it all. Fortunately, his step dad stopped him before it was too late. He was thinking of that moment and said to himself, “look what you would have missed out on. Not just making the CrossFit Games but inspiring so many people. God kept me here to do this.“ He was overwhelmed with all the joy, love, and happiness he got to experience after his life was in such a dark place.
This story was heart-breaking but also reminds us that even when life seems so low, and that you don’t know if you will be able to go on, that God will give us the strength to get through it and come out the other side. It may not get better tomorrow, or a week from now, or a month, but eventually God will show us the way and help us once again find happiness and joy in our lives. I hope that you cherish all your happy moments and sad ones because they were given to you by God, and they are all precious.
