Life Goes On…
Whether you choose to move on and take a chance in the unknown, or stay behind, locked in the past, thinking of what could’ve been.
What is the ZONE?
The Zone is a way of eating developed by Dr. Barry Sears in 1995 in order to help people become healthy by decreasing whole-body inflammation. Typically in our Western diets, our ratio of Omega-6 fatty acids to Omega-3 fatty acids is about 16:1, which puts us at risk for developing cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory auto-immune diseases, and cancers. The Zone diet promotes a more favorable ratio of about 2:1, by including more Omega-3’s in the diet as well as antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables. The Zone way of eating promotes a steady release of insulin throughout the day, which is the hormone responsible for the uptake of glucose into our cells to be used as energy or stored as fuel. We when eat a lot of high carbohydrates meals, our insulin levels may shoot sky-high and overtime our pancreas becomes exhausted and the body becomes less able to uptake all of the glucose we are feeding it. High levels of circulating glucose in the body can lead to weight gain, diabetes, nerve, eye, and kidney damage, as well as cardiovascular diseases.
Come join us on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm to lean more about the Zone and how this way of eating can work for you and achieve your weight loss or athletic goals. Please pre-register with Jenny (firstname.lastname@example.org) to sign up for the class and receive your information packet.
