“If we are creating ourselves all the time, then it is never too late to begin creating the bodies we want instead of the ones we mistakenly assume we are stuck with.”
-Deepak Chopra, author and Alternative Medicine practitioner
I know many of us think that we can’t change our biology, and that we will always be “a little pudgy” or have a “slow” metabolism–but that simply isn’t true! Every time you eat healthy or come in for a workout, you are creating a new future for your body. Now this doesn’t happen overnight, but what we EAT and how we EXERCISE can change our genetics. Here is a good overview of the field of Epigenetics, which explains how we can alter our DNA through dietary or environmental changes. Remember that if you want something, you need to keep at it. You are not a slave to your family history; you can make your own! This is what our New Year New YOU challengers have been doing, and their mid-point results will be posted shortly–stay tuned!
- The 2014 CrossFit Open begins next week! We will continue our tradition of inviting everyone to come and do the workout on the Saturday following the announcement. Anyone is invited, even if you did not sign up for the Open. Please come, workout, and show your support for our amazing competitors and Open athletes!
- Our 4th Annual Inner Box Battle registration deadline ends next week! This year we are raising funds for the Ogar Strong foundation in order to continue to support Kevin Ogar’s road to recovery. There are still plenty of spots left in each division!
