BCAA’s: What’s in Yours?

The three BCAAs (branched-chain-amino-acids) isoleucine, valine, and leucine are essential amino acids that all have branched side chains in their chemical structure. In the muscle, these three amino acids serve both as an energy substrate during exercise and as a precursor for the synthesis of other amino acids and proteins. Many athletes¬†take these additional amino acids post-workout in order to aid in the recovery process and speed up muscle building, but where and how do these companies make these amino acids? I’m sure most of you think that because a product is sold on the self, its ingredients must be federally regulated…well, that’s not the case with supplements. Supplements claiming to have a health benefit do not have to be regulated by the FDA, and so these BCAAs might have been made from “less-pure” sources such as bird feathers, cat or dog hair, or even roadkill! However, there are companies that deliver high-quality, pure amino acids, and mark their products with the AjiPure seal. This means that these amino acids are pharmaceutial-grade and are between 99%-100% pure. These amino acids are produced naturally, using a fermentation process, instead of degrading various parts of animals. At CDR, we strive to offer the most pure and natural products in order to aid in your overall health and well-being, and AjiPure products are a safe and natural way to maintain a high level of athletic performance.
