Every day this week, we have heard from the individual competitors of Team CDR, so you could get to know them a little better and hear how they are feeling about the Games! Check out the other interviews: Teresa Diaz Gendy, Jacob Heighes, Sarah Compton, Calvin Davis, & Rachel Davis.
Last, but certainly not least we hear from Jonathan Heighes!
1. What is a highlight for you from Regionals?
The whole weekend was amazing but definitely the wods which took the whole team of 6 were the best.
2. What keeps you motivated to train so hard at the box?
Crossfit feels like a first love, it’s my passion and it’s not something that could ever be extinguished. That makes it easy for me to train so hard.
3. What max lift would you like to see at the Games?
Lift? How about a max height jump!
4. What are some of your favorite movements? Least?
Least favorite would have to be any type of lunge even if its just a body weight lunge. I don’t know what it is, it’s just not very fun. Actually it’s because I’m not that great at them he he.
5. What are you most looking forward to at the Games? Is there anything you are nervous about?
I’m actually look forward to just watching teams and individuals go. I never enjoyed watching any type of sport because I thought it was boring but watching any body do crossfit is just so fun. Nervous? Right before I do any wod I always get butterfly’s but that’s just love.
6. Which male and female do you think are going to win the Games?
Camille Le Blanc
6. Favorite piece of Reebok swag?
It’s all pretty awesome but… Probably the shoes.
7. What’s the key to the mental game during competitions?
I usually just tell myself I get to eat candy afterwards. But that’s just me. The best advice I can give for others is that it’s not about how good you could have done on this day or you’re hurt or feel sick or this person next to you is ahead or that person is watching or what will people think of my time or performance…it is only you in that moment what you are capable of and what you can push yourself to do in that moment.
8. What’s your favorite part about being a member of Team CDR?
They’re all pretty fit so I don’t have to work too hard. Haha but no really because with a team we make a plan that this person does this amount of reps or this instead of that. A lot of strategy is involved and I know that in a wod where we said ok we’re going sets of 10 and towards the end I can only do 8 I know that they’ll be behind me when I struggle.
9. What’s something fun or interesting about you that most people at CDR dont know about you?
They’re finally here!!!!
WOW, did you see the announcement for the new equipment that Team CDR will be using during some of their events this weekend?
Read this article to find out what a pig, worm, iditarod is!!
If you can’t make it out to Carson this weekend….make sure to catch ESPN3’s live stream of the events (here’s an instructional for setting it up).
